KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak kicked-off his five-day working visit to Saudi Arabia with a meeting King Salman Abdulaziz Al Saud today.
The Prime Minister's Office posted a picture of Najib having a discussion with the Saudi king and Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques in Riyadh at 6pm today.
"Had a very excellent meeting with His Majesty King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques,” Najib posted on his Twitter account following the meeting.
Najib said both leaders had the opportunity to exchange views, particularly on issues discussed and agreed upon during the historic state visit by His Majesty King Salman to Malaysia, last year.
“Thank you for the warm hospitality and strong friendship between two brotherly nation,” he said
The Prime Minister who arrived on Monday evening, was greeted upon arrival by Riyadh governor Prince Faisal Bandar Al Saud at the King Khalid International Airport.
Najib, is accompanied by his wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, is also scheduled to meet Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Salman Abdulaziz Al Saud as part of discussions on bilateral, multilateral, regional and international issues.
The meetings, Wisma Putra said in a statement, will also cover follow-up actions on issues discussed and agreed upon during the historic state visit by King Salman to Malaysia in March last year.
These include matters such economic cooperation, investment, haj matters and the establishment of the King Salman Centre for International Peace (KSCIP) in Putrajaya.
