Polytech Mara refutes claims TVET courses not accredited

KUALA LUMPUR: At least one education institution has refuted claims circulating on messaging apps that public institutions do not have Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) accreditation for their Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) courses.

Polytech Mara said all TVET programmes at the institution were accredited by MQA.

“If there is no accreditation, how are we going to run the programme?” said a spokesman.

Information gathered from the website of the Higher Education Ministry’s Polytechnic Education Department also stated that all courses have been accreditation by MQA.

A message from unknown sources had been circulating on WhatsApp claiming that TVET courses at public universities as well as Polytech Mara and Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) have not been accredited by MQA.

This would pose difficulties for students when they graduated, the message claimed.
