Cold snap grips Kelantan, T'ganu as temperature dips to 18 degrees Celsius

KOTA BHARU: Kuala Krai is enveloped in heavy fog and experiencing unusually cold weather, with the temperature dipping to 18.4 degrees Celsius this morning.

According to Kelantan’s Meteorological Department, Malaysia is still in the northeast monsoon phase, with cold wind flowing down from wintry China.

Its director, Rabiah Al Adawiyah Zakaria, said that average temperatures in Malaysia tend to be lower in February compared to other months, due to the monsoon.

"The cold (snap) is also occurring in Kerteh, Terengganu (and other locations) where temperatures have dropped (and the wind has picked up).

"However, (the temperature today will rise to a) maximum of 32.7 degrees Celsius in the evening.

"The lowest temperature ever recorded in Kuala Krai was 15.7 degrees Celsius, which occurred in 2014," she said when contacted here today.
