Agong to open sixth session of 13th Parliament on Monday

KUALA LUMPUR: The first meeting of the sixth session of the 13th Parliament will be held for 20 days between March 5 and April 5, says Dewan Rakyat secretary Datuk Roosme Hamzah.

In a statement today, she said the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Muhammad V, will open the sixth session at 10 am on March 5.

The first meeting would begin with a motion of thanks for and a debate on the royal address over two weeks, after which the ministers will respond with their replies in the third week, she said.

“Debates on the bills and other government matters will be held in the fourth and fifth weeks,” she added.

Roosme said the notice on the last session of Parliament prior to the 14th General Election was issued on Jan 19.

She also said that the Parliament session would include the Ministers’ Question Time for 30 minutes every Tuesday and Thursday and the speeches on Government Administrative Business under Standing Order 17 at 2.30 pm daily in the Parliament Special Chambers.

Roosme said a full dress rehearsal of the opening of the sixth session of the 13th Parliament would be held on Friday, March 2. -— BERNAMA
