KUALA LUMPUR: Bukit Jalil Axiata Arena turned into a sea of blue tonight as Barisan Nasional (BN) supporters thronged the indoor stadium for the launch of BN's highly anticipated 14th General Election manifesto.
Supporters nationwide were in high spirits while they waited for Prime Minister and BN chairman Datuk Seri Najib Razak who is expected to announce the manifesto at 8pm.
Observation at the stadium discovered supporters from all walks of life and races were wearing the blue clothes to show their support.
Video of BN’s past successes and achievements during the 13th general elections were also played on the big multimedia screen.
One of the supporters, Yusof Yacob, 59, from Terengganu said he was excited to see the unveiling of the manifesto despite the six-hour journey to get here.
“I arrived last night to avoid being stuck in the traffic jam.
“I was surprised to see supporters from all races gathered at one place for the unity of the country,” he told the reporters.
Meanwhile, some buses ferrying BN supporters were still trapped in traffic as the traffic volume steadily increased since afternoon.
Ceremony secretariat, Azmi Rahmat said the organiser is working with the police to ensure the event would be carried out without any untoward incident.
“The traffic jam was caused by the supporters who came from all states to show their support.
“Highest number of supporters came from Johor, Perak and Selangor,” he said.
