KUANTAN: Tenaga Nasional Bhd’s (TNB) myTNB mobile application has received positive feedback from participants who attended the National Transformation (TN50) dialogue session at Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) last month.
UMP undergraduates, who attended the event, formed a long queue to download the application and tried checking their home electricity bills on their smartphones.
Bachelor of Occupational Safety and Health undergraduate Muhammad Syafiq Ismail said the new application was the way forward towards cashless transactions.
The 21-year-old said the new concept was much easier and people could pay their bills anytime, or anywhere without rushing to the counters or cash deposit machines.
“I have downloaded the application and the features are user friendly. Everything can be completed with just a touch on the smartphone,” he said.
“Although I might not be using it now, I will be sharing it with my parents and friends so people can download the application and utilise it. It is not only about paying electricity bills but one can monitor the usage and consumption trend,” he said.
Undergraduate Muhammad Amrun Aniq Mohamed Saidi, 22, said the application introduced by TNB is in line with online banking applications where people do not need to go and wait at financial institutions.
“Soon people will no longer need to queue up at post offices or the TNB office to pay their bills as they can complete the payments online.
“Even if someone has no plans to use the app to pay online, the person can download the application to monitor their home electricity usage and help them save electricity. I was told that TNB will be adding more features in the near future and this will be among the initiatives to go green or move towards a paperless society in the future,” he said.
