KOTA KINABALU: Sabah government announced that May 9 will be an additional public holiday to allow the people here to cast their votes.
State secretary Tan Sri Sukarti Wakiman in a statement issued here said this was in line with the federal government declaring May 9 an additional public holiday in conjunction of the 14th General Election polling day.
“Thus the state government under Section 9 of the Holidays Ordinance of Sabah (Chapter 56) agreed to declare May 9, 2018, an additional public holiday for Sabah.
“This is to allow Malaysians in this state to carry out their duty as voters following the Election Commission's (EC) announcement of the voting for GE14,” he said.
