GEORGE TOWN: Beginning June 7, China Airlines will have direct daily flights from Taipei to Penang.
Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng said the increase in flight frequency six times weekly would bring in more tourists into the state, thus further boosting the tourism industry.
He said the flight schedules had also been adjusted whereby, flights from Penang would depart at 1.45pm and arrive at 6.30pm while flights from Taipei will depart at 8.10am and reach Penang at 12.45pm.
“With this, we hope that tourists from both sides will have more time on their hands to explore the country,” he said in a press conference here today.
Meanwhile, Lim said the Penang International Food Festival 2018 (PIFF 2018) which will be held on April 28 and 29 would feature 150 food trucks.
“The food truck gathering is seeking to set a new Guinness World Record title for the largest food truck gathering in a single event,” he said.
Currently, the record is being held by the city of Saitama, Japan with a record of 123 food trucks. -- BERNAMA
