KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia Airlines today said it will reinstate flights to Kolkata, India on Dec 2, 2024.
Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG), the parent of Malaysia Airlines, Firefly and Amal, announced plans to cut 20 per cent of network capacity in August this year.
The new route is an addition to nine other destinations in India, including New Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai.
The airline will operate five weekly flights on this route, operated by the Boeing 737-800 aircraft.
"We are delighted to recommence direct flights to Kolkata, marking a pivotal step in our ongoing efforts to offer enhanced connectivity for travellers between Malaysia and India."
"India is a key market for us, and by continually enhancing our network and increasing frequencies, we aim to deliver exceptional travel experiences, complemented by Malaysia Airlines' renowned hospitality," Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG) chief executive officer of Airlines Ahmad Luqman Mohd Azmi said in a statement.
The airline is offering special introductory fares available from Oct 8, 2024 to Nov 8, 2024 for for travel from Dec 2, 2024.
