PUTRAJAYA: The Registrar of Societies (RoS) has approved the registration of Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM).
Home Ministry secretary-general Datuk Seri Alwi Ibrahim announced this today, saying PH’s registration was approved when the RoS had called off the provisional dissolution order made against PPBM in line with Section 14(6) of the Societies Act 1966.
“The cancellation of the provisional dissolution order has been made when PPBM gave the required information to RoS,” he said in a statement.
In this respect, Alwi said PH’s registration application had been approved as stipulated under Section 7 of the same Act on May 16.
“This means, PPBM ad PH can hold activities in line with their objectives and constitutions as well as carry out matters as stipulated under Act 335 (of the Societies Act 1966),” he added.
PPBM had been slapped with a provisional dissolution order previously, resulting in the party being barred from holding activities and using its name as well as logo.
A few weeks later, the High Court, however, had granted a stay on the RoS’ provisional dissolution order against PPBM pending the disposal of the party’s judicial review bid, allowing the party to use its own logo in time for the 14th general election (GE14).
Despite the High Court ‘s decision, PPBM still continued using the PKR logo for all of its candidates contesting in the GE14.
PH won big in the GE14, taking over the Federal Government from Barisan Nasional (BN), with PPBM chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad being sworn in as the seventh prime minister.
