KUCHING: The Pakatan Harapan government needs representation from Sabah and Sarawak as it has pledged an administration that respects the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63)
Political analyst Associate Professor Dr Jeniri Amir said the central government needs to introduce policies that includes the interest of the people of the two state in respect of the MA63 and this is where the representatives can play their role.
Jeniri said their numbers are not important as long but elected representatives from Sabah and Sarawak should be given roles in the Federal administration.
"If the matter is not taken into consideration, it can be used as a political tool for the opposition to attack the government and raise dissatisfaction among the people in the two states," he added.
Jeniri said the appointment of Federal cabinet ministers should also not be based on their race.
“Greater emphasis should be given on finding a solution to address and reduce the national debt and closely monitor and focus on mega-development projects that would benefit the people.”
He expressed confidence in the cabinet line-up that has been sworn in, as the ministers are from different professional background and each have their own capabilities.
