KUANTAN: The bank account of the Tunku Azizah Fertility Foundation (TAFF) has been frozen without any notification or reason, claimed its founder Tengku Puan Pahang Tunku Azizah Maimunah Iskandariah.
Taking to her official Twitter account @cheminahsayang, Tunku Azizah Maimunah said they only realised the foundation's HSBC Bank account had been frozen after a cheque issued was returned.
"The Tunku Azizah Fertility Foundation's HSBC bank account has been frozen...why why why, I believe in transparency and accountability...but this is unfair and (we were) not notified. We only knew after a cheque was returned.
"TAFF is fully dependent on sales of cook books and donations, we have no other money at this time and cannot sponsor treatments... you are all invited to review our audited accounts. Who instructed for TAFF's account to be frozen? I am not angry but at least inform us and tell us why," she said.
"There is nothing for us to hide, we are helping those without children to realise their dreams (of getting a child through treatment)...why why why," she wrote on her Twitter account.
"Last December, HSBC did write to me, asking me to declare the assets of my committee members, but I forgot to reply them and then they (the bank) froze my account in June," she added.
In recent days, there have been several reports of bank accounts allegedly related to 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) being frozen by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
Acting Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi also informed that the accounts of central Umno as well as Selangor Umno had been frozen.
