Najib claims SST will further burden the people

KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Najib Razak has slammed the government’s decision to reintroduce the Sales and Services Tax (SST).

The Pekan MP had said that people are not pleased that the government had zero-rated the Goods and Services Tax (GST) in June.

“In actual fact, prices of goods never really dropped. Only certain basic essential goods prices dropped, but not all,” he said.

“This brings an impact and effect on Pakatan Harapan’s manifesto, which has not been achieved.”

Najib also said with SST coming into force, the cost of living will rise and this will further burden the people.

The SST is set at 10 per cent for sales and six per cent for services.
