KUALA LUMPUR: Umno secretary general Tan Sri Annuar Musa has taken to twitter to take a swipe at former party Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin.
Although he did not name Khairy, it was obvious Annuar was referring to the Rembau member of parliament (MP) over the latter’s decision not to join his fellow Umno MPs in walking out of Parliament yesterday.
In his post, Annuar took a swipe at Khairy's statement about being a credible opposition.
"Is it credible to act alone..not to attend the pre-council meeting...not to join in MPs' discussions?
“When the government does something wrong and we just sit quietly...when our friends stand up to voice out and we just sit quietly?
"(So) being credible is if we (blindly) follow Pakatan Harapan.”
It was reported that Opposition MPs, except for Khairy, former Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Anifah Aman - who is Kimanis MP, and Datuk Rozman Isli (Labuan MP), yesterday walked out of the Dewan Rakyat after claiming that the appointment of former Court of Appeal judge Datuk Mohamad Ariff Md Yusof as Speaker did not comply with procedures.
Khairy has since explained that he disagreed with the walkout because it would be better to bring the matter up during debate.
He said this would also help towards ensuring a credible opposition.
To this, Annuar posted another tweet, but again did not name Khairy.
"There are those who say that we can object during the debate. Nice, but what if a debate is not allowed?
“Do we just continue sitting and just say yes to maintain our machoness?"
