PUCHONG: The body of a man was discovered on the rail track, 100 metres away from the Pusat Bandar Puchong Light Rail Transit (LRT) station, here, at about 7am today.
Serdang district police chief Asst Comm Ismadi Borhan said a distressed call was received at about 7.51am.
"Upon arriving at the location, we found the body of a man on the track.
"Checks found no identification papers on the victim," he said when contacted.
NSTP reported earlier that a man, believed to be an LRT passenger, was killed after he had fallen onto the tracks, however initial investigation found that this may not have been the case.
Ismadi said based on closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera footage, the man was seen making his way down to the tracks before he was hit by a train.
"He was proclaimed dead at the scene," Ismadi informed.
"Police are still investigating the cause of the incident, whether the man was drunk or wanted to commit suicide. No criminal element was found at the scene.
"The case has been classified as sudden death. The victim's remains were sent to the Serdang Hospital for post-mortem," he said.
Meanwhile, Rapid KL informed of travel delays between IOI Puchong Jaya and Pusat Bandar Puchong following the incident.
"Investigation is still underway and Rapid KL will issue an official statement soon. We seek for everyone's cooperation to not speculate at the moment. Thank you," Rapid KL wrote on their Twitter account.
