KUALA LUMPUR: Police arrested a man, 42, at Razak Mansion, Cheras, on suspicion of smashing the windows of at least six parked vehicles near the Awan Besar LRT station, Bukit Jalil.
Cheras police chief Assistant Commissioner Ravindar Singh today said policemen from the Cheras Criminal Investigation Unit acted on a tip-off when they arrested the suspect about 7pm yesterday.
"An investigation has been opened for allegedly committing mischief. Checks on the man's background shows he has a criminal record for drug and criminal offences."
Ravindar said investigations showed the man had also been involved in stealing parcels and break-ins in Cheras.
"Police have obtained a three day remand order to facilitate police investigations until Friday," he said.
On July 5, police received reports from six car owners who had parked their vehicles near an LRT station that their vehicle's windows had been smashed.
