Air space closure at KLIA and klia2 for 2018 National Day air show; flights reschedule expected

PUTRAJAYA: The Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) will temporarily close the air space at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and klia2 for the 2018 Merdeka Day celebration airshow.

The central committee of the 2018 National Day celebration said the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) would conduct training for the airshow several days prior to Merdeka Day.

“In this respect, the CAAM will close off the air space at the two airports between 9am and 10.30am starting from Aug 27 to Aug 31.

“The air space closure is expected to affect flight schedules. Thus, the public is required to get updates from their respective airline companies about their new flight schedules between the said period.

“By doing so, passengers can avoid any possible problem that may arise (from flight reschedule),” the committee said in a statement today.

The committee also urged the people to turn up for the 2018 National Day celebration at Dataran Putrajaya on Aug 31 starting from 7am.

“Many events will also be held in conjunction with the National Day celebration throughout the day (on Aug 31) until Sept 2.”
