RMAF air show wows crowds in Kedah's National Day parade

ALOR STAR: A thrilling inaugural acrobatic air show by the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) brought added excitement to the state-level Merdeka Parade, where over 35,000 people gathered at Dataran Medan Bandar today to celebrate the 65th National Day anniversary.

Attendees began arriving at the city square as early as 7am to witness the parade, with clear skies ensuring the event proceeded smoothly.

At around 9.50am, four F/A-18D Hornets from the RMAF's 18 Squadron captivated the crowd with aerial maneuvers at speeds exceeding 600 km/h at an altitude of around 300m.

Spectators were riveted as the jets executed breathtaking stunts with agility and grace, leaving the crowd in awe.

The event was graced by Sultan of Kedah Sultan Al Aminul Karim Sultan Sallehudin Sultan Badlishah and Sultanah Maliha Tengku Arif.

Other royal dignitaries at the event were Raja Muda of Kedah Tengku Sarafudin Badlishah Sultan Sallehuddin, Raja Puan Muda of Kedah Che Puan Muda Zaheeda Mohamad Ariff, Tunku Mahkota of Kedah, Tunku Shazuddin Ariff Sultan Sallehuddin and Tunku Puan Mahkota of Kedah Che Puan Nur Julie Ariff .

Also present was Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor.

The celebration began with an inspection of the guard of honour by Sultan Sallehudin, followed by a choir performance and other festivities.

About 5,000 participants forming 142 contingents representing various government and private agencies, as well as non-government organisations took part in the parade.
