KUALA LUMPUR: The 100-day report by Council Of Eminent Persons (CEP) is not meant to be made public, Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said today.
He said the report was for him and the government to base their decisions on.
"The CEP was formed to perform specific duties, including conducting investigations and filing report... whether I accept the report or not is my business.
“The main thing is to feed me with information I need in order to make decisions, so it is the government’s business."
Dr Mahathir was speaking to reporters after officiating the Cities 4.0 and Business 4.0 conference at a hotel here today.
Last week, he had said that the government has no plan to disband the CEP as its services were still needed.
Headed by Tun Daim Zainuddin, the other CEP members include former Bank Negara governor Tan Sri Zeti Akhtar Aziz, former Petronas president Tan Sri Hassan Merican, economist Dr Jomo Kwame Sundaram and business tycoon Robert Kuok.
Last Monday, Umno secretary-general Tan Sri Annuar Musa last week had urged for the findings made by the CEP be made public and also tabled in parliament.
He said the council should also be immediately disbanded as it had concluded its 100-day term and fulfilled the mandate given to it by the government.
