Perak govt apologises over 'Taipei' Sukma video clip

IPOH: The state government expressed regret and apologised today after a video clip of Malaysia Games (Sukma) 2018, which seemingly copied a Taipei in Motion 2017 video, went viral.

State Youth, Sports and Human Capital Development Committee chairman Howard Lee Chuan How said today that the video was just an example and would not be used for the official video of Sukma.

“We admit that we uploaded the video on the social media as a teaser. This video will be used temporarily while waiting for the official version to be published by RTM. I would like to apologise should this spark confusion.”

On Aug 26, a 19-second Sukma video clip was criticised by netizens for allegedly imitating a Taipei in Motion technic video clip which was produced for the Summer Universiade Championship in Taiwan, last year.

Lee said three videos related to Sukma had been completed and would be aired by RTM soon.

“The durations of the three videos are 15 seconds, 40 seconds and one minute,” he said.
