UCSI students raise RM2,300 for Palu earthquake victims

KUALA LUMPUR: The students of UCSI University’s Medical and Optometry Faculty have raised RM2,328.15 for earthquake victims in Palu, Sulawesi, Indonesia.

UCSI vice-chancellor Professor Datuk Dr Khalid Yusoff said the students sympathised with them and wanted to help them.

The money was presented to Malaysian Relief Agency (MRA) president Dr Mohd Daud Sulaiman at the university’s campus in Cheras today.

“MRA has been at the forefront of disaster relief efforts and have been working hard to ensure that medical and relief aid reach some of the temporary campsites in Palu,” Dr Khalid said.

Dr Daud thanked the students for their generosity and said a medical team from Malaysia was expected to arrive in Palu to provide medical and trauma recovery assistance.

“MRA welcomes anyone or any parties who wish to contribute to the earthquake victims in Palu to do so through the MRA Sulawesi Earthquake Victims Humanitarian Fund,” he said.

He said donations could be made to MRA’s Public Bank account number 39885 91608 under the Malaysian Relief Agency Foundation.

Enquiries may be directed to +60 13 455 7020 (Mohd Fadhil Baharudin) or that MRA office at +60 3 9174 4672.
