Russian team Virtus Pro win KL Dota 2 Major, RM1.47 million prize

KUALA LUMPUR: Virtus Pro were the grand champions of the Kuala Lumpur Major after taking down Team Secret in an epic five-game series finale here, tonight.

With their victory, the Russians take home the US$350,000 (RM1.47 million) prize.

Virtus Pro's triumph denied Team Secret's Yeik "MidOne" Nai Zheng a home win. He was a crowd favourite for being the remaining Malaysian, and earned the loudest cheers from the audience at the Axiata Arena here.

In fact, Team Secret had been the favourites to steal the KL Major crown in Game 4 with good early plays – but Virtus Pro's "Ramzes666" inspired a late comeback for his side.

Being the first champions of the new Dota 2 Pro Circuit season, Virtus Pro has regained its dominance in the Dota Pro Circuit.

It wasn’t the end of the world for Team Secret though – winning the 2nd place spot earned them US$170,000 and 3,000 Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) Points

The Virtus Pro, meanwhile, have secured 4,950 DPC Points and made a huge step forward to qualifying for The International 2019 (TI9).
