TANAH MERAH: The National Entrepreneur Group Economic Fund (Tekun Nasional) disbursed financing of RM5.3 billion to 419,483 entrepreneurs nationwide since its inception 20 years ago.
Its chairman Datuk Seri Mohamad Suparadi Md Noor said most of the loan facilities were to help small and medium-sized businesses and entrepreneurs.
“Loan facilities, between RM5,000 and RM100,000, have proven to be successful in helping entrepreneurs in expanding their businesses.
“For example, an entrepreneur in Terengganu is now earning a revenue of RM20 million per annum on initial loan of RM5,000 from Tekun Nasional,” he told reporters after handing over school aid here today.
At the event, 150 students from poor families around the district received RM100 each.
Mohamad Suparadi also said that Tekun Nasional aimed at becoming the pioneer in helping entrepreneurs to develop their business in various fields.
“We have also channelled RM465 million funding to 51,972 entrepreneurs in Kelantan during the same period.
“Kelantan is the earliest state of Tekun’’s operations as there are many traders as well as the small and medium entrepreneurs venture into business here,” he said. - Bernama
