Bus, Ferrari burst into flames in separate incidents

SERDANG: A Nadi Putra bus caught fire along the Maju Expressway (MEX) on Friday, resulting in a two-kilometre long traffic snarl.

It is learnt that the bus driver escaped unhurt in the 11.30am incident. There was no passenger at the time of the incident.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department spokesman said when firefighters arrived at the scene, near the Seri Kembangan toll plaza, the bus was already engulfed in flames.

"We managed to control the blaze and put it out shortly."

He said the fire was believed to have started somewhere at the rear of the bus and the driver, upon noticing smoke, immediately stopped the vehicle by the roadside.

In another incident, a Ferrari F458 sports car went up in flames along the Middle Ring Road 2, near Batu Caves early this morning.

The driver, a man in his 40s, escaped unhurt in the 1.20am incident.

The blaze was said to have started at the engine bay of the estimated RM1 million car before spreading into the cockpit.

A Selayang Fire and Rescue Department spokesman said firefighters extinguished the burning vehicle within 10 minutes after arriving at the scene.

It was not immediately known what caused the Ferrari to catch fire.
