GOPENG: A tour bus carrying 41 passengers, including five children, collided with a trailer at KM295.4 of the North-South Expressway (northbound) here, today.
It is understood that the bus carrying three men, 33 women, five children, and a driver was traveling from Melaka to Kedah in the 4am incident.
Perak Fire and Rescue Department Assistant Director of Operations Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad said firemen from the Gopeng and Simpang Pulai Fire were dispatched to the scene after receiving an emergency call at 4.03am.
Upon arrival, it was found that the front section of the bus was crushed, believed to have crashed into the rear of a truck, he said.
"Four bus passengers, comprising three women and one adult man, sustained minor injuries, while the other passengers escaped unhurt.
"No passengers were trapped.
"All passengers on the bus managed to exit on their own before the fire department arrived at the scene," he said.
He said the Operations Commander instructed the Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) team to provide initial treatment to the injured passengers before they were sent to the hospital for further care.
The operation, involving 15 firemen, ended at 5.01am.
