VIENNA: Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad arrived in the Austrian capital here on Sunday for a three-day working visit during which he will attend the 10th Annual General Conference and General Meeting of Anti-Corruption Authorities (IAACA); and deliver a lecture at the International Anti-Corruption Academy (IACA).
Dr Mahathir, who is accompanied by his wife Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali, was met on arrival at the Vienna International Airport by Deputy Foreign Minister Datuk Marzuki Yahya; Malaysia's ambassador to Austria Datuk Ganeson Sivagurunathan; and Director General of the National Governance, Integrity and Anti-Corruption Centre (GIACC) Tan Sri Abu Kassim Mohamed.
The Prime Minister will be delivering a keynote address themed ‘15 years of the United Nations Convention against Corruption, Accomplishments and Prospects’ at the Vienna International Centre (VIC) on Tuesday.
He will also share Malaysia’s experience in dealing with corruption in a lecture at the IAACA entitled ‘Fighting Corruption in Malaysia: Achievements, Challenges and Perspectives’.
Dr Mahathir’s itinerary also includes meetings with the Chancellor of the Republic of Austria, Sebastian Kurz, at the Federal Chancellery; the Federal President of the Republic of Austria, Dr Alexander Van der Bellen, at the Hofburg Palace; and the Austrian business community.
He will end the second day of his visit with a dialogue with the Malaysian diaspora in the country.
