KUALA LUMPUR: Former primer minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak should face the music for posting an embargoed Parliament document on his Facebook account yesterday.
Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said the act of sharing the Felda White Paper could not be taken lightly given Najib’s vast experience as the people’s representative.
“This is a serious matter. The act was not committed by a new member of parliament... and he used to be the prime minister.
“Without considering the Parliament’s standing order, he released a document which was embargoed. It is a serious matter, and we will take action.
“This is so he will be reminded that no one is above the standing order of the Parliament,” he said during a press conference at the Parliament lobby, here, today.
Yesterday, Najib posted on his Facebook page views regarding the Felda situation, including a photograph that appeared to be a page of the White Paper, which was embargoed until noon today.
Earlier today, Economic Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali tabled the White Paper on Felda, explaining the financial and current condition of the land authority.
Azmin told Najib to attend the session saying the Pekan lawmaker should be debating the matter in Parliament instead of posting it on social media.
Najib was not present during Azmin’s rounding up speech on the Felda White Paper.
