MUAR: Even before he was appointed as the new Johor menteri besar, Dr Sahruddin Jamal, has displayed the good qualities of a leader. He is adored by his Bukit Kepong constituents and the people of the state.
Speaking fondly of the Bukit Kepong assemblyman, his friend, Mohd Farid Alwi said Dr Sahruddin was well-known among the people for his generosity and commitment to help the people, especially the poor and less fortunate.
Farid, 38, said Dr Sahruddin had never accepted payment from senior citizens or the poor when they sought treatment at his clinic.
“Dr Sahruddin will never charge senior citizens and the poor when they visit his clinic for treatment.
“He would also give medicine to his patients from these two groups for free on top of providing the best medical treatment.
“I am not praising Dr Sahruddin just because he is my friend, but I am also one of the patients at his clinic,” he said.
Dr Sahruddin, 43, had served at the Sultanah Fatimah Specialist Hospital and owned three clinics prior to his involvement in politics.
Farid also praised Dr Sahruddin’s wife, Dr Nila Armila Mukdan, who is known for her courteous and warmth personality.
Abdul Aziz Ramli, meanwhile, said Dr Sahruddin was known as a humble and generous person among his constituents.
“That is why he is well accepted by the people here.
“I have high hopes that Dr Sahruddin will become the best menteri besar and continue helping the people,” he said.
