KUALA LUMPUR: We have all heard of Changi Airport's latest offering, the Jewel and its cascading water feature.
A recent burst pipe at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (klia2) led to a Netizen "wondering" if Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB) was also working on the airport having a similar "attraction".
"OMG. In @ChangiAirport they have waterfall in the airport. #klia2 also building our own waterfall ke?" tweeted @rayongtim.
His tweet was in response to another Twitter user sharing a footage of a collapsed ceiling with water gushing at a lounge in klia2.
The footage posted by @UncleAhBoon was captioned, "This is serious...klia2..."
Responding to the incident, MAHB issued a statement today informing that the burst pipe at Gate K8 boarding lounge has been rectified with the lounge resuming full operations at 2.30pm.
"The incident which happened at approximately 5.30am this morning had caused part of the ceiling to collapse," MAHB said, adding that the lounge was empty at the time.
"An airport staff had promptly alerted the operations team for immediate rectification. Both our engineering and cleaning teams worked quickly to rectify the situation and managed to reopen the gate for operations with new ceilings and clean floors by mid-day.
"The incident neither cause any interruption to flight operations nor any inconvenience to passengers."
"I would like to thank the team on the ground for being efficient in handling the situation and this includes our airline and ground handling partners for being patient and understanding throughout the incident," said MAHB group CEO Raja Azmi Raja Nazuddin in the statement.
MAHB added that its engineering team would continue to monitor the situation of the replaced pipes.
Stating they were aware of the footage that had gone viral, MAHB said they value and welcome feedback as they work towards providing a joyful experience at their network of airports.
