MIRI: A fisherman who was looking for crabs in Sungai Suai, here, had a shock when he saw a crocodile dragging a half-eaten human body yesterday afternoon.
Miri District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Lim Meng Seah said the man and his son were on a boat during the incident.
“Upon closer look, he saw the reptile dragging a human’s lower part of the stomach and legs.
“He then informed other fishermen of the discovery and together they went out to locate the crocodile.
"Shortly after, they found the body floating and contacted the police," he added.
Lim said the police rushed to the site but could not determine the victim’s identity.
"The body was that of a man but we could not find any personal documents in his trousers,” he added.
Lim said the body was then taken to the Miri Hospital Forensics Unit for a post-mortem.
"The police would like to appeal to those with a missing family member to go to the Miri Hospital to make an identification," he said.
