'Nothing unusual in murky sea water near Kuantan'

KUANTAN: The murky sea water along Pantai Penggorak near here is a normal phenomenon that usually occurs after a downpour during the monsoon transition phase.

Pahang Environment Department director Rosli Zul today said: “Based on our records, the phenomenon is the result of natural effects from the huge waves each time during the northeast monsoon transition phase.

“It could also be as result of the sea foam washing up on the beach due to turbulent conditions of waters toward the shore.

“However, the department will have to conduct checks to determine if it was caused by pollution or human activities has contributed to the murky water.”
