SHAH ALAM: Two motorcyclists were killed when the motorcycles they were riding crashed into each other at KM17.4 of the Federal Highway during a suspected illegal race early this morning.
They were identified as Mohamad Helmy Zulkhairie Idris, 18, and Muhammad Syafiq Sahili, 19. Both were reportedly killed on the spot due to serious head injuries.
Selangor Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Superintendent Azaman Sha’riat, said in the 2.30am incident, the teenagers were racing each other along the Klang-bound lane of the highway.
“While racing, their motorcycles suddenly bumped into each other causing them to lose control of their machines before slamming into the centre divider of the highway.
“The two riders were thrown off their Yamaha LC135 for nearly 30m.
“According to the paramedics, both of them sustained serious head injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene,” he said.
Azaman said their bodies had been sent to the Shah Alam Hospital for post-mortem.
