UiTM lecturer found dead in rented house

SEREMBAN: A lecturer from Universiti Technologi Mara (UiTM) Seremban 3, here, was found dead in his rented house in Suriaman 3 Bandar Sri Sendayan, near here yesterday afternoon.

The body of the political science lecturer, Badrul Azmier Mohamed @ Bakar, 43, was found around 6.30pm after a neighbour complained of a foul odour coming from the victim’s house.

Seremban police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Said Ibrahim said the lecturer was believed to have died two to three days ago based on the condition of his decomposed body.

"A neighbour who had noticed the odour lodged a report to the police before a team was deployed at the scene. However efforts to enter the house was futile as the house was locked from the inside.

"Police then asked the security guard of the residential area to contact the heirs of the lecturer before his older sister in the late 40s arrived and opened the door," he said when contacted today.

Mohd Said said, police found the body of the lecturer who is not married, lying on a bed in the main room wearing only trousers. The body was sent to Tuanku Ja'afar Hospital (HTJ) Forensic Medical Department, here, for an autopsy.

He added investigations conducted at the scene and results from the post mortem too found no criminal elements involved and the case has been classified as sudden death (SDR).

"Investigations also found that the lecturer was living alone in the rented house. His body had been claimed by his family members today for burial ceremony in Melaka," he said.
