PUTRAJAYA: All schools in Putrajaya have been ordered to close tomorrow due to poor air quality caused by the ongoing haze.
State education director Farizah Ahmad, in a statement today, said there would be no school sessions for those in the administrative capital as the air quality had deteriorated since 5pm on Monday.
"All schools will be closed tomorrow (Sept 17) as the Air Pollutant Index (API) exceeded the 200 level since 5pm today," she said.
The air quality in Putrajaya had on Sunday breached the ‘very unhealthy’ level, first registering an API reading of 201 at 5pm and later, 204 at 6pm.
There are 25 schools in the administrative capital, comprising 15 primary schools and 10 secondary schools.
Putrajaya becomes the latest area to register ‘very unhealthy’ API reading on Sunday with a reading of 202 at noon.
