KUALA LUMPUR: Veteran actor and comedian AR Badul has withdrawn his request for an inquest into the death of his son Major Mohd Zahir Armaya, who was killed in a shooting demonstration at the Lok Kawi Camp in Kota Kinabalu last month.
Badul, or his full name Armaya Aman Ramlie, 70, changed his mind after he understood the chronology of the incident as detailed by the senior management of the Malaysian Army yesterday.
“As a father, of course I’m sad with the sudden loss of my son. My emotion clouded my judgment. Also, at that time, there was no detailed explanation on the incident except from what have been reported by the media.
“However, after meeting with a senior officer from the Malaysian Army and was explained in details, I withdraw my request.
“I made the decision after thorough consideration for the sake of my three grandchildren who have lost their father,” he told Berita Harian.
Badul was reported to have had a meeting with the senior management of the Malaysian Army that lasted for about two hours.
On Sept 26, it was reported that Badul wanted an inquest to determine his son’s cause of death.
