KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Army has advised the public not to engage in hunting or other activities near the areas of Sibu, Stapang, and Nanga Sekuau in Sarawak following a military exercise.
In a statement, the army's 1st Division Headquarters said road users, farm and plantation owners, as well as residents, are advised to refrain from engaging in any hunting or other activities within the exercise areas to ensure the safety of the ongoing training.
"The training, called Exercise Haringgaroo Series 74/2024 will be conducted together with the Australian Army from Oct 17 to 31.
"Residents and villagers in the vicinity of the exercise areas are urged to extend their full cooperation to the military personnel during the training," read the statement.
The army added that the main objective of the exercise is to further strengthen the relationship between the Malaysian Army and the Australian Army.
The exercise also seeks to enhance joint training between the two forces.
The exercise will also see the participation of the Malaysian Army 3rd Batallion Royal Ranger Regiment and the Australian Army's Rifle Company Butterworth.
