Lanang MP is new NIOSH chairman

KUALA LUMPUR: The National Occupational Safety and Health Institute (NIOSH) has announced the appointment of Lanang member of parliament Alice Lau Kiong Yieng as its new chairman.

The appointment, which was made by Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, is effective from Oct 1, 2019, to Sept 20, 2022.

Lau, who holds a Master of Pharmacy from the University of Strathclyde, replaces Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye, whose contract ended on Sept 20.

“The NIOSH board of directors, gratefully acknowledges Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye, who served as chairman of NIOSH for 25 years from 1994 until 2019.

“In this regard, NIOSH is confident that Lau will be able to take the institute to greater heights in the field of occupational safety and health practices,” it said in a statement today.
