PUTRAJAYA: Starting next year, the National Registration Department (JPN) will introduce online applications for several services.
They are applications for birth certificates, retrieval of birth certificates, 12-year-old MyKad applications, retrieval of MyKads and marriage registrations for non-Muslims.
Director-general Datuk Ruslin Jusoh said, for these applications, applicants would only need to go to JPN offices and produce original documents before collecting the documents that they had applied for.
“In line with the advancement in technology, JPN is also taking a step forward to improve and enhance services provided to the people,” he said at the 2019 National Registration Department’s Day celebration here.
Apart from that, Ruslin said JPN would also implement a system for the automatic registration of deaths.
“This means once a death is reported to the police, it will automatically register in our records through an online integration programme with them (police).”
He said with this, the department hoped to further improve services provided to the people and reduce waiting time at its counters.
Meanwhile, JPN is also carrying out improvements on its standard operating procedures (SOP) to ensure integrity in the issuance of personal identification documents.
“This is also hoped to reduce cases of abuse of power,” he added.
