KUALA LUMPUR: Flooding across many parts of Peninsular Malaysia has been aggravated by further rain, leading to the forced evacuation of more people.
As of 8am this morning, 1,676 victims from 466 families are taking shelter at temporary relief centres (PPS) in five states. The figure is a sharp increase from 1,183 victims recorded at 8pm on Sunday, Bernama reported.
In SELANGOR, 784 people were evacuated from their flooded homes in Kuala Selangor, and moved to four PPS in the district.
In JOHOR, 341 residents of Kluang, Kulaijaya, Batu Pahat, Pontian and Johor Baru were moved to seven PPS in the five areas.
In PERAK, 386 victims are taking shelter at five PPS in Hilir Perak, Kerian and Batang Padang.
In PENANG, 137 evacuees continue to be housed at five PPS in Seberang Perai Tengah.
In KEDAH, two PPS were opened last night to provide shelter to 61 people in Kulim and Pendang.
