KUALA LUMPUR: Yesterday, it was Negaraku in Mandarin that took social media by storm.
Today, three clips showing the Negaraku being sung in Arabic are being shared on the Internet.
While it looks like the clips were shot in Malaysia, their exact locations have yet to be ascertained.
Two of the clips look like they were shot in schools while another one was of adults in what looked like a religious class.
Bukit Aman CID Prosecution and Law Division (D5) principal assistant director Senior Assistant Commissioner Mior Faridalathrash Wahid said police were still in the midst of identifying the origin of the clips.
He said investigation is being carried out as the Negaraku has been gazetted in the National Anthem Act 1968 and its form cannot be altered.
"For now, police have yet to ascertain where the clips were shot but investigation is ongoing under the National Anthem Act 1968.
"This investigation is to identify the purpose behind the national anthem being sung in a different language," he said when contacted, here, today.
Meanwhile, commenting on the Negaraku in Mandarin issue, he said police already recorded the statement from the school's management.
In the clip, a group of schoolchildren in a classroom were seen singing the national anthem in Mandarin.
According to the caption accompanying the original video which was posted on Youtube in September 2018, the clip was shot at a primary vernacular school in Negri Sembilan.
The original video on Youtube has since been taken down after it went viral over the past few days.
