#NSTviral: Malaysians stand united in respect for national anthem [WATCH]

KUALA LUMPUR:  A video of  Malaysians standing in respect as the national anthem was being played in a mall here has sparked a wave of pride among netizens.

It was a social experiment video with the theme "Tell us that you are Malaysian without telling us you are Malaysian," capturing how netizens might react when the 'Negaraku' is played.

The video posted by @IOI City Mall on TikTok showed everyone from the elderly to children standing still in respect the moment they heard the national anthem.

Whether seated or skating, all stood still when they heard the anthem.

The video garnered over 1 million views and 143,800 likes.

User @NaNaWee said this is the emotional connection Malaysians have with their homeland.

"Teardrops fall because I still see many fellow Malaysians who love Malaysia so much. Tanah airku, Tanah tumpah darahku!" said NaNa.

User @Iynda hamzah said nothing feels more powerful than witnessing the people's pride in our nation.



"It gives me goosebumps seeing this, proudly Malaysians," she said.

"@zulfadlipalie said I am proud to be a citizen of Malaysia," he said.

"@ladydiane said I'm a Singaporean, studied in Malaysia, love to hear the Malaysian national anthem, and will proudly sing along," said lady.

"User @PixelPilot said the national anthem is the only song that makes us united, Negaraku. Proud to be a Malaysian," he added.

Another user @KakPiqa said "Just seeing this can make me cry, I love my country, Malaysia," she said.
