GEORGE TOWN: After more than a month of break, going back to school can be quite a drag.
That, however, is not the case for students of Sekolah Kebangsaan Convent Green Lane as "Marvel superheroes" were on hand to welcome and cheer them on the first day of school, here, today.
Two men, dressed up as Spiderman and Star-Lord, allayed the students’ first day school blues.
The nervous looking students shook hands and even high-fived with the superheroes and entered the school compound with a smile on their faces.
The school's headmistress Noor Azian Ahmat said that she wanted to do something new for the students to relax their minds when they entered the vicinity.
"First day at school, they might be thinking about books, tests, exams, teachers and others. So, I decided to take their minds off those things, even if it is just for a brief moment.
"I have seen other schools do this and I did it at my previous schools as well. It works and the students look visibly excited on their first day," she said when met at the school this morning.
There are a total of 810 students registered for the 2020 school session in SK Convent Green Lane.
