IPOH: Former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak has the right to express his dissatisfaction over the audio recording that was revealed by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) today.
"I have only one answer...he has the right to do whatever he wants to do (to air his views)," MACC chief commissioner Latheefa Koya said.
She was responding to a question that was posted by Najib on his Facebook account on the MACC's action which he described invalid and no rule of law.
"Everyone (including members of the public) has the right to express their views," she told reporters after opening MACC-Perak Media Bowling Tournament at Aeon Kinta City here today.
Earlier today, MACC released a number of phone recordings of Najib when he was sorting out issues surrounding the investigation into 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) in 2016.
During the press conference, Latheefa played nine clips of phone conversations between Jan 5, 2016, and July 29, 2016.
She said the recordings, which lasted nearly 45 minutes in total, were received by the MACC “after the new year” (January 2020).
