Influenza A: No schools, classes shut in Selangor

SHAH ALAM: No schools or classes in Selangor have been closed due to the Influenza A outbreak.

Selangor education department director Dr Mahanom Mat Sam said as of today, a total of 231 students from 97 schools were reportedly diagnosed with the virus.

However, the students have sought treatment at clinics and hospitals and are in stable condition.

“The affected students have been given quarantine leave and advised to rest at home for three to seven days,” said Mahanom today.

She said this was based on the data her department had obtained from its district offices.

According to the data, Klang recorded the highest statistics involving 97 students from 35 schools, Petaling Perdana with 53 cases from 27 schools followed by 30 cases from seven schools in Sepang.

Mahanom added that there were also students from Kuala Selangor, Gombak, Kuala Langat and Hulu Selangor infected with the virus.

Mahanom advised school administration staff to monitor the situation and advice its students to care for their health.

She also encouraged schools to be disinfected and hand sanitisers as well as face masks be used.

Over at Sekolah Kebangsaan Cyberjaya, body temperature checks are conducted on the students, who are also given briefings on the Influenza A outbreak.
