SUNGAI BULOH: Nearly 2,000 people have been evacuated in Selangor due to floods.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director (operations) Ahmad Mukhlis Mokhtar said the districts currently affected by floods are Gombak, Shah Alam and Kuala Selangor.
"Six flood relief centres have been opened, with a total of 480 families evacuated so far.
"The number of people who are taking shelter at the centres stands at 1,968," he said when contacted on Friday.
He said the PPS currently opened are Dewan MBSA Seri Pagi at Paya Jaras, Dewan Kenanga, Dewan MBSA, Bunga Matahari, Dewan MPS Seri Kundang, SRA Kuang and SK Desa Aman.
"A total of 54 personnel from six fire stations comprising Sungai Buloh, Bestari Jaya, Selayang, Batu Arang, Dengkil and Bukit Jelutong are currently responding to the flood situation.
"(Personnel from) the Sungai Buloh fire Station will be monitoring Kampung Kubu Gajah, Merbau Sempah, and Kampung Cempedak, Kuang while the Bukit Jelutong fire station will monitor the Kampung Melayu Subang and Jalan Tembusu area," he said.
He said the Bestari Jaya and Dengkil fire stations would be monitoring Kampung Sri Aman, Taman Saujana Aman, Kampung Parit Mahang, Sungai Buah, Jambatan Sekolah Vokasional, Revolusi Hijau and Pasar Dengkil areas.
"The Selayang and Batu Arang Fire Stations will be monitoring Kampung Selayang Baru, Kampung Laksamana, Indian Settlement, Taman Rahmat Jaya Kundang, Lorong Utama 1, Lorong Setia 7, Kg Melayu Sri Kundang, Lorong Haji Talib, Kampung Gombak and Kampung Bunga Raya," he said.
