ALOR STAR: Water at three dams in Kedah continues to recede, with the level at the Muda dam stands at 16.1 per cent today.
Muda Agriculture Development Authority (Mada) general manager Datuk Fouzi Ali, however, said water levels at Ahning and Pedu dams were recorded at 62 per cent and 46.7 per cent respectively and still could be channeled for agricultural and domestic use.
“Last week (Jan 6) the water level at Muda dam was 26.72 per cent, Ahning dam (64.47 per cent) and Pedu dam at 50.18 per cent.
“Despite the decline, Mada is still able to release the water daily at 113 cubic metres per second to meet the demand for padi farming and domestic use,” he said when contacted today.
He said should water level at the Pedu dam continue to decline until 27 per cent, water would only be released for domestic use.
“We are urging all the farmers to optimise the water use and not to waste it.”
