'Sajat registered for umrah as a man'

KUALA LUMPUR: The travel agency that arranged for Muhammad Sajad Kamaruzzaman, popularly known as Nur Sajat, to perform the Umrah claimed that the controversial local cosmetics entrepreneur registered for the visit as a man.

A spokesperson for Albayt Travel (M) Sdn Bhd said that during the registration process for the Umrah, Nur Sajat had produced identification documents being that of a man and did not state nor inform on being a khunsa (hermaphrodite).

According to the spokesperson, upon arrival in the holy city of Makkah, Nur Sajat then informed the Mutawiff there of being a hermaphrodite.

“If Nur Sajat is indeed a hermaphrodite then it is an issue, as when boarding the flight from Kuala Lumpur, Nur Sajat was still a man.

“The Malaysian Consulate in Jeddah have also contacted Nur Sajat on this matter before Nur Sajat claimed to have documents from court stating about being a hermaphrodite,” said the spokesperson when contacted here by Harian Metro yesterday.

However the spokesperson added that the court documents that Nur Sajat claimed to have were never made known to Albayt Travel.

“We have already asked Nur Sajat to issue an apology yesterday and to delete all the pictures and video from social media platforms and channels.

“We have also advised Nur Sajat to be a man throughout the time in the Holy Land upon arrival in Makkah the day before,” said the spokesperson according to Harian Metro.

“We have checked the flight tickets on the possibility that Nur Sajat purchased different return tickets but none so far.

“We have also met with Wisma Putra’s representatives and so far Nur Sajat has not been detained by the (Saudi) authorities," the spokesperson added.
