Annuar Musa accuses PH of not backing Dr M

KUALA LUMPUR: Umno secretary-general Tan Sri Annuar Musa took a swipe against Pakatan Harapan (PH) ministers, asking whether Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad had received enough support from them to carry out his responsibilities.

In a series of tweets today, he claimed that instead of supporting the premier, PH ministers had insulted, slammed and backstabbed Dr Mahathir.

"“PH ministers had spoken about the mandate, but have they thought about giving the mandate to their prime minister?

“Nah, we are now giving the mandate and helping the prime minister to work on improving the country, including rectifying the damages done by you for the past two years, in the economy and religious matters,” said the Ketereh Member of Parliament.

Annuar claimed that an impending political realignment is happening due to the arrogance, pride and greed in PH.

“Do not blame the others and do not forget that not only those in government were given mandate. Not only LGE (Lim Guan Eng), LKS (Lim Kit Siang), MS (Mohamad Sabu), KS (Khalid Samad) and DSAI (Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim), but we as the opposition had also the mandate.

“The (current) government was formed from mixed-parties; hence it does not belong to any party.”

Annuar further explained that the problem lies with PH as the coalition was riddled with problems, which subsequently saw it fail and as such was torn apart.

“We, the opposition, are always committed at placing what is best for the people. The country must be safe and stable, with its leadership focusing in working for the people.

“We offer to be the counterbalance for stability,” he said.

In his tweet, Annuar also took a swipe against Deputy Dewan Rakyat Speaker Nga Kor Ming and Minister in Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Dr Mujahid Yusof Rawa.

On Nga’s tweet that any "backdoor government" without a mandate from the people is a betrayal to the country and the people, Annuar replied; “The government that loses the support loses the legitimacy... simple right?

“The people? Yes, all the MPs represent the people. Do not be too arrogant YB (yang berhormat, referring to Nga). Only now you talk about the people... for two years you kencing (loosely translated as lied to) the people."

Nga who is the DAP Deputy secretary-general said the only legitimate government is the government from the people, by the people and for the people, hence any "backdoor government" is illegitimate, will not last long and will be punished by the people.

Meanwhile, on Mujahid’s tweet that mandate can only be changed in a general election and not during meeting cum dinner at a hotel, Annuar replied; “You are still very much in denial”.
