KUALA LUMPUR: The Armed Forces male and female officers of Intake 43/3 gathered at Bellamy House in Jalan Bellamy, Bukit Petaling recently, to commemorate their 38th reunion.
Among the senior officers present were Army deputy chief Lt Gen Datuk Hasagaya Abdullah, Army ordnance director Col Mohd Tamam Jamioon, Armed Forces human resources branch director Brig Gen Suriakala Suriabagavan and the Army’s 3rd Division artillery commander Brig Gen Noor Sazali Puteh.
Also present were the Army’s Western Field Command Signals director Col Abdul Kadir Mohd Ali, its Communication and Electronics Institute commandant Col Izhar Zakaria and Military Intelligence Special Branch deputy head Col Azhar Tahir and and Military Intelligence Psychological Operations director Col Mohd Nazaruddin Mohd Nazir.
Keeping the evening alive were coursemates Octagon Maju Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Capt (Rtd) Datuk Azme Dollah and businessman Capt (Rtd) Datuk Taufik Mohd Akhir, who had retired earlier from the Army.
Hasagaya is the most senior serving officer from the short-service commissioned Armed Forces officers of Intake 43 (men), Intake 3 (women) and Intake 26 for Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) cadets who enlisted in December 1981.
A total 111 of the cadets were from the Army, 16 from the Royal Malaysian Air Force and 27 from the RMN, who trained alongside 22 women (all from the Army).
After three months, the naval cadets continued their training at KD Pelanduk at the RMN base in Lumut, Perak.
Similarly, RMAF cadet pilots later continued their flying training at the RMAF Base in Alor Star, Kedah.
“A good number are still in service after extending their short-service commissions to become regular service officers,”said Hasagaya.
“Many others have ventured into the corporate world and other vocations upon completion of their short-service commissions.”
Hasagaya previously served as the Third Malaysian Infantry Division commander as a major-general, based at Terendak Camp, Malacca.
