Philanthropist offers respite for public, police during MCO

BENTONG: Datuk Jasvir Singh is no stranger to charity.

The ongoing Movement Control Order (MCO) has seen the businessman’s generosity reach a different level.

Since the MCO was implemented, Jasvir has consistently been providing light refreshments for army and police personnel who were conducting roadblocks here.

Describing Malaysians as one big family, he said no one knew when the Covid-19 crisis would end, hence the need to help each other.

“Whether rain or shine, the army and policemen have been stationed outdoors and are often exposed to various risks.

“My contributions are just to show appreciation to these frontliners.”

Upon realising that low-income families here were facing hardship due to the MCO, Jasvir, from Kampung Ketari near here, also bought and provided them with groceries.

He said many people have suffered a sudden loss of income and it was tough especially for those with big families.

“My contribution of rice packets, cooking oil, eggs and other food items will hopefully help reduce the burden and they can have enough to prepare simple meals at home.

Jasvir Singh is providing the items to about 50 families in stages and will personally distribute the items.
